Q: Who runs Horror Mall?
A: Horror Mall is owned and operated by Shane Ryan Staley who is also an author and Editor-in-Chief of one of the biggest independent publishing companies in the world, Delirium Books. The chief partner in operations is Larry Roberts, a long-time bookseller and publisher who runs the popular Bloodletting Press.

Horror Mall's mission is to collect the best independent horror products within a single storefront while marketing indie horror outside of its niche. Horror Mall's focus remains heavily on literary works which is a passion of both proprietors.

Q: Is this site secure and safe to shop on?
A: Yes. Horror Mall is one of the safest storefronts on the 'net, running on an authenticated secure server (SSL). We do not share your information with anyone and our database and all your information is secured by the industry-best blowfish encryption.

Our Comodo secure certificate can be viewed online in the lower right hand column of any page. You can point to verify.

Furthermore, customers are backed by an indentity insurance of $10,000.

Q: How do I get my horror product(s) listed at Horror Mall?
A: We generally have 3 account types:

1) Consignee (For newer publishers and sellers. We ask seller to ship their product to our warehouse on a consignment basis for market testing. Based on sales, we'll promote seller to a vendor or shop owner if products sell well. For slower sales, we generally keep products on a consignment basis (meaning you get paid as each item sells).

2) Vendor (Horror Mall buys your products at an agreed standard discount and keeps stock at our expense for resale).

3) Shop Owner (You run your own storefront, having access to sales in real-time. You list products, keep inventory and drop ship items. This involves a contract between seller and Horror Mall.

Orders
Q: Do I need to register to place an order?
A: Yes. You can create a profile / register by visiting our registration page.

Q: How do I cancel an order?
A: You can cancel your order by submitting a support ticket and stating your order # and items you wish to cancel.

Q: Do you charge a restocking fee?
A: There is no fee for canceling an order unless a customer has canceled more than 5 orders within a 365 day period. For each additional order (after the 5th cancellation), the customer will be charged a 15% stock fee per item.

Q: I've recently moved and need to change my address. How do I properly go about doing this?
A: First off, you'll need to log in to the Horror Mall store. Under the 'Your Cart' menu, you'll see a link called 'Modify Profile.' Click on this and you will be able to update your billing and shipping addresses, phone number, e-mail.

Important! If you have orders (preordered products) you've already placed with the old address, you MUST submit a support ticket, list the order numbers you need updated with the new information. Changing your profile does NOT update the orders you've already placed on our site. It will only change the information for future orders.

Q: Can I use a gift certificate to pay for an order I've already placed.
A: No, you must enter your gift certificate at the time you are placing an order. Any orders placed before you acquired a gift certificate cannot be paid on with a gift certificate.


Reward Points
Q: How does your points system work?
A: Customers (who have become members of our store) receive 1 point for every dollar spent at our store. Points are given as credit and can be used to pay for future purchases in full or partially.

Q: How much are points worth?
A: 50 points equal $1 when cashing them in.

Points are earned based on membership levels:

Members earn 1 point for every dollar they spend.
Premium members earn 2 points for every dollar they spend.
Pre-pay customers do not earn points.

Please note that shipping charges to not accrue points.

Q: How do I find what the current points are worth?
A: Current point values can be checked by customers when they are logged under the 'YOUR CART' section (right-hand column). There it will show you your total rewards points you have accumulated.

Q: How can I find out how many points I have?
A: Accumulated reward point totals can be checked by customers when they are logged in by going to the Reward Points menu under the 'YOUR CART' section in the right-hand column.

Q: I have points and want to use them. How can I do this?
A: Points can be cashed in during the checkout process of future orders by electing to pay with points (an alternative to pay with credit card or Paypal). You simply select 'Points' in the payment method section during checkout. From there, you will be able to select how many points you want to put toward your order.

Q: I don't have enough points to pay for the item I want. Can I pay part of the order with points?
A: Yes. When you select points as your payment method, the shopping cart will ask you how many points you wish to use. The dollar amount of the points you use will be deducted from the subtotal of your order. The shopping cart will then take you back to the payments section to select another payment method to pay for the remainder of your order.

Q: Are there ways that I can earn more points?
A: Yes. One way to earn points on top of the orders you place is to write customer reviews about the products available at Horror Mall. Each month we give away 500 points to the customer who writes the most accepted reviews. Also, if you become a part of our message board community, we give away 500 points on your birthday. To qualify for this, you must be a registered board member for at least 90 days and average at least 1 post per day.


Layaways
Q: How do I put something on layaway?
A: You can place an order on layaway by checking out the contents of your shopping cart like a normal order. When you get to the payments method screen, you'll select 'Layaway' instead of your typical credit card, Paypal or money order.

Q: Is there a minimum order for layaways?
A: Yes, $50.00.

Q: How are layaways charged?
A: We handle all our layaways through Paypal subscriptions. Within 72 hours after placing your layaway order, you will receive an e-mail with a Paypal subscription link to initiate your layaway. You will have 5 days to click this link and sign up for the Paypal subscription plan.

Q: I didn't receive an e-mail link to a Paypal subscription. What should I do?
A: Horror Mall generally sends out links within 72 hours. If you have not received an e-mail, then please check your e-mail address is your profile. This is where the link was sent. If it is correct, then please make sure you check your spam filter. For future orders, you'll want to whitelist (accept e-mail) from the following addresses associated with Horror Mall:

If you still don't find your e-mail with link, please do the following to begin your layaway:

1) Log in to the Horror Mall storefront
2) Click on 'Orders History' under the YOUR CART section in the right hand column of any page
3) From the search menu, make sure the Date Period is set to 'All."
4) Under the Advance Search Options, make sure the Order Status is set to 'Layaway.'
5) Click on the search button
6) The search results represents all orders that have been initiated as layaways. Click on any order # that comes up.
7) Click on the 'Start Layaway' button right above your invoice.
8) Click on the special link to start your payment plan & follow the directions from there.

Q: Do you offer layaway payments via credit card, check or money order?
A: No. All layaways must go through a Paypal subscription plan.

Q: What is the payment plan for layaways?
A: All of our layaways are set up on a 5-month payoff plan. Your payments will be set up as follows: 20% non-refundable deposit is charged immediately after you sign up for the subscription/layaway plan. An additional 20% is due at 30, 60, 90 and 120 days after your initial payment.

Q: Can I cancel my layaway?
A: If you cancel the layaway subscription, you will be refunded all payments, minus the initial 20% deposit which is non-refundable. You may cancel a layaway by submitting a customer support ticket.

Q: Can I add products to my current layaway?
A: No. The payment plan set up in the layaway cannot be altered. Products cannot be added or deleted. Multiple layaways cannot be merged.

Q: Can I pay off my layaway early?
A: Layaways can be paid off early, as long as the final payment pays off the entire balance due. If you pay your layaway off early (outside of the subscription plan), your subscription will be fulfilled and you won't receive any more subscription charges.

You may submit a support ticket and get the payoff balance and the e-mail address to send your final payment to. Early payoffs must be paid using Paypal and sent to the Horror Mall Paypal address which will be provided in the reply to your support ticket. Please reference the order # with your final payment to make sure you are credited properly.

Q: Why don't my layaway payments show up in my order history?
A: Since our layaway plan is handled through Paypal subscriptions, customers will need to log into their Paypal accounts to track their payments and balance still owed.

Q: Are payments strictly limited to the five monthly ones, or can I make payments of different amounts at more regular intervals?
A: The payments are already setup through Paypal in 5 monthly installments, so we do not accept payments outside this payment plan. The only other option is to payoff the entire balance early.

Q: Can I payoff or make a payment with a gift certificate?
A: No.


Consignments
Q: How do I get my books on consignment at Horror Mall?
A: Contact Larry Roberts at bloodlettingpress@yahoo.com regarding the books that you would like to have consigned through Horror Mall. Larry will look over your list and let you know the books that Horror Mall would be interested in and prices he believes your books will sell for.

Q: What are the fees for consigning my books through Horror Mall?
A: Horror Mall will take 25% of the purchase price of the consigned title.

Q: How long does it take to get paid for my book once it sells?
A: Within 7 days of your book being sold at Horror Mall, payment will be sent to you for the proceeds of the sale minus the consignment fees.

Q: Do I have any say as to what Horror Mall lists my books for?
A: Absolutely, Larry will discuss the listing price of each book with the consignee prior to listing the book. All listing prices will be agreed upon prior to books being listed and sold.

Q: What happens if my book doesn’t sell?
A: We will return your book or lower the price to generate interest whichever you prefer. However, the shipping cost for returning books is the responsibility of the consignee and Horror Mall will collect return shipping cost prior to books being shipped back to consignee.

Q: What are the methods of payment for my consigned books?
A: We can send payment by Paypal or Horror Mall gift certificate whichever you prefer.

Q: What are the benefits of consigning my books through Horror Mall rather than just putting them up on Ebay?
A: We have a large pool of collectors that are looking specifically for small press horror related items. We’ve also seen the majority our books fetch far higher prices than Ebay auctions on key titles. We can market your items with newsletters, message boards, blogs, red alerts etc. Ebay doesn’t do this for you. We also take care of a lot of the hassle of selling your items for you, like paying for all the transaction fees for Paypal, credit cards etc. We pack, ship and track all orders, and ensure an accurate listing of your consigned titles.


Shipping
Q: What shipping methods do you use?
A: We ship all products via USPS (U.S. Postal Service).

Q: Do you ship overseas?
A: Yes. We ship worldwide.

Q: I ordered both in-stock and preordered items. When will my in-stock items ship?
A: We ship all items as they become available. So your in-stock items will ship immediately and preorders will ship as soon as they come into stock.

Q: Will I be charged extra for multiple shipments?
A: Absolutely not. Orders containing multiple shipments (or preorders shipped at different times) will be shipped at our expense.

Q: I've bought from other sellers in the past and received damaged product. How does Horror Mall ship?
A: We guarantee your items will arrive in the condition they were shipped. No one packs better than us. We use sturdy boxes, packing peanuts and bubble wrap. Each item is inspected thoroughly before it is shipped. And we offer a 30 day return policy for full credit or replacement if your item is damaged in transit.

Q: Can I track my order?
A: Yes. Once your product has shipped, you can log into the store and click 'Orders History' in the right hand column under 'YOUR CART'. Search for the order you want to track. Click on that order number and scroll down towards the bottom where there will be a tracking number.

You can then copy the tracking number to your clipboard and go to the USPS site and paste the number into their tracking system.

Q: My order hasn't arrived yet. What should I do?
A: Media mail can take up to 14 days to arrive. If you selected media mail and it's been longer than 14 days since your item(s) were shipped, please feel free to contact us by submitting a support ticket.

Q: My order was split into two invoices and charged double Priority shipping. Why?
A: Although the majority of our items are shipped from one location, artwork and T-shirts are often drop-shipped from various locations. Due to the fact that we cannot ship either artwork or T-shirts media mail, we advise customers to order both artwork and T-shirts separately from other items to avoid being forced to pay Priority shipping for all items.

Q: How do I update my shipping address for past and future orders?
A: Please see This FAQ.

Q: Can I have shipping charges combined for orders that ship close to one another?
A: Sorry, but we will not combine or alter shipping costs. Horror Mall will ship to its customers all preordered items in that order at different times of release for the price of a single shipment charge (and we eat the cost of the additional postage on our end). This is a service we allow our customers instead of giving them the option of either waiting till their order is complete to ship, or charging additional shipping charges for each package that ships.

For those customers who get several bills for different invoices around the same time, please note that you can order multiple preorder items in a single order to avoid this.


Payment
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, and Paypal.

Q: Do I have to pay up front for preordered items?
A: You will have the choice whether to pay now or later once you become a member of our store. (Please see our Membership FAQs for more details.) If you'd like to pay later (when the items come into stock), please select 'Bill Me' as your selection at checkout. Your complete order balance is charged as soon as the first item in your order ships, so it is best to order preordered products individually if you wish to pay for all preorders at the time each ships.

Q: If I order multiple preordered items in a single order, when will I be charged?
A: You'll be charged for the total of your order as soon as the first preorder item comes into stock.

Q: When placing an order for both in-stock and preorder items, can I be charged later for the preorder items?
A: No. If you place an order for both in-stock and preordered products, you'll be charged up front due to the in-stock items shipping immediately. If you wish to pay later for your preorder items, you should place a separate order for each preordered product.

Q: What is the procedure if I select BILL ME when ordering?
A: Customers who select Bill Me will receive an e-mail when the first item in your order is ready to ship. At that time, you will receive a link via e-mail to pay for your order. If payment is not received within 10 days, your order and bill will be canceled and the products in your order will be placed back into the store for sale to the public. Please make sure that if you select this option you get e-mail notifications from Horror Mall so that you may pay them in a timely fashion. It helps to make sure that the following e-mails are included in your contact list and white list to avoid Horror Mall e-mails from ending up in your spam folder: admin@horror-mall.com and sales@horror-mall.com.

Please note: if you fail to pay a bill and it's marked as a failure in the system, all of your current queued orders will become due. You will receive a bill for each of them and they must be paid within 10 days or they will fail as well.

Q: Can I make payments on certain orders?
A: If you want to pay off a layaway early, please see our Layaway section in this F.A.Q. If you want to pay early for a Bill Me order, please submit a support ticket with your order numbers. We will then set your order to billed and you will receive an e-mail with a link to pay early.

Q: I have a gift certificate, but when I add it at checkout it says it's not valid. Why?
A: The most common problem is that customers add their gift certificate codes in the coupon area. A gift certificate isn't a coupon and the system will not recognize it. To cash in a gift certificate, you need to select 'Gift Certificate' as your payment method in the dropdown box. Once you do, there will be an area come up to enter your code.

Q: I selected BILL ME as my payment method, but I didn't receive my e-mail bill. What can I do?
A: First off, you will need to make sure your e-mail program is set up to receive e-mails from horror-mall.com. Please add the following e-mail addresses to your list of accepted recipients, your contact list and whitelist:

Next, you can keep tabs on what's been billed through your account history. Just follow these steps:

Returns
Q: What is your returns policy?
A: Horror Mall offers its customers a 30-day return period on all products sold within its stores. You must return your product(s) within 30 days of receiving your order to get credit.

Q: What are my options for being credited for a return?
A: Horror Mall offers full credit via a Horror Mall gift certificate or replacement of item.

Q: How do I initiate a return?
A: To apply for a return, you need to log in to your Horror Mall store account and go to your 'Orders History' page under the 'YOUR CART' section (in the right hand column of any page). Once there, you can search for the order with the product(s) that need returned. Click on the order number and you'll see the order details. Just above the displayed invoice is a 'Create Return' button. Click on that and it will bring up a form for you to submit with information about your return.

Horror Mall generally will accept or decline returns within 72 hours. Declines are generally because the 30 days period has elapsed. Once approved, you will receive an e-mail notice.

You can track your returns by clicking on the 'Returns' link under 'YOUR CART'. By checking the 'Modify Return' you can change information on your return and also print out a 'Returns Slips' for packing up your product. This will include the address you'll need to send your return(s) to.

Q: Does Horror Mall refund shipping charges?
A: If the refund is caused on our end, we will gladly refund shipping in full. Causes including (but not limited to) bad product descriptions or sending the wrong product are applicable to full shipping refunds.


Affiliate Program
Q: What is an affiliate program?
A: It is a program that pays you to place our banners on your site. You get paid for all traffic that comes from your site via click-throughs and sales.

Q: How much do I get for referrals?

Q: Do your digital editions contain digital rights management?
A: No, they are DRM-free, but protected by copyright and piracy laws. These files cannot be shared or distributed in any manner.

Q: Can I share or e-mail these downloads to others?
A: The unauthorized reproduction or distribution of copyrighted work is illegal. Criminal copyright infringement, including infringement without monetary gain, is investigated by the FBI and is punishable by up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.

It is illegal to obtain an e-book without purchasing it and once purchased, an e-book may not be transferred from the purchaser’s computer or device reader to another. You can not upload it to a third party or attempt to sell it.

Help support the independent publisher, author and seller of this edition and do not share or accept pirated copies.

Horror Mall, Darkside Digital and its publishers enforce these standards and report any theft to the FBI and local law enforcement agencies. Anyone in violation of copyright or piracy will be pursued and prosecuted.

Q: What if I lose my files? Can they be replaced?
A: No, it is up to each customer to back up their purchases on their own devices or computers. Horror Mall will not replace files due to loss or computer crashes.

Q: I'm looking for other formats other than .mobi, .pdf and .epub. Will you offer them?
A: Sorry, but we only stock what we have. There is, however, a software called Stanza that will convert our existing file formats to other formats. But we are not responsible and cannot guarantee they will convert or format correctly for your needs.

A: Due to the nature of the product, we cannot give refunds or any purchases of digital goods. Customers are responsible for making sure they know how to run their devices and software and also how to upload files to their respective devices.

Horror Mall will guarantee that our file formats are valid and functional, but we cannot offer tech support on how to work your e-Readers of choice.

Q: A lot of eBook sites offer horrible quality of fiction. Why is this site different from those other digital download sites?
A: Two words: professional editing. The only fiction posted for sale at Horror Mall is that in which has been reviewed by an editor. Major independent publishing houses like Delirium Books and Bloodletting Books will be selecting fiction as well as newer presses like Cargo Cult Press.

Q: I'm making the switch from printed books to digital. Does Horror Mall offer support for this transition if I purchase my digital editions here?
A: Although we can't offer support for helping you learn how to use your digital reading devices, we will stand behind the digital products we deliver. Also, there are some very good sites out there that will offer information on digital reading. Check out the following:

Q: I have the Kindle app for my iPhone. Can I download books from Horror Mall and read them with this app.?
A: No, as the Kindle app for iPhone or iPod Touch only lets you view what you've purchased directly through Amazon. Horror Mall recommends the Stanza app for iPhone or iPod touch. Once you download it to your device, you can purchase the EPUB format offered at Horror Mall.

Q: Can I print PDFs off?
A: Yes, printing is enabled.


Memberships
Q: What are your different memberships levels and why should I upgrade?
A: Horror Mall has different membership levels based on how long a customer has been registered and how many orders they have placed.

Level One: Normal

Normal membership is the default membership group customers are placed within after registering for our storefront. In this membership, orders must be paid in full at the time an order is placed.

Level Two: Member

When you qualify for this membership, you will get benefits like the 'Bill Me' payment method (where preorders can be billed at the time of shipment instead of when the order is placed), plus you will receive 2% back in points on every order.

Level Three: Premium

If you qualify, you'll get double points per purchase. You'll receive twice the amount of points per dollar spent (4% back in points per order!). Also, you will receive an automatic additional 3% off all purchases. This is automatically calculated into your shopping cart totals! The additional percentage is calculated off SALE prices which are already lowered by up to 25% or more off retail prices.

Q: Where can I find out what my current membership status is?
A: When you are logged into the store, click on the 'Modify Profile' link under the YOUR CART menu (on the right hand column of any page). Then simply click on the 'Submit' button which will ultimately send you an updated profile e-mail notification which will include your current membership status.

Q: How can I upgrade my membership level?
A: Upgrading From Normal to Member

If your first order placed at our website is at least 90 days old and you have placed at least 3 paid orders for a grand total of $100 or more, you can submit a customer support ticket to request an upgrade to member status.

Upgrading From Member To Premium

Once you have placed (and paid for) $3,000 or more in our store in a single year (from January 1 of the current year forward), you can request your account to be upgraded to 'Premium.' You can only qualify for Premium membership if you have no failed (order status: 'Failure') or canceled (order status: 'Cancelled') orders in the current year. To officially request your upgrade to Premium, you must fill out a support ticket with the request. Someone from customer service will then review your account to approve its qualifications. The membership upgrade will begin once the request is approved and end on December 31st of the year your account qualifies for the upgrade.

You can keep track of your totals by logging into the storefront and going to 'Orders History' under the YOUR CART menu. From there, you can set the search criteria for the dates corresponding to the beginning of the current year through the current day and choose 'Processed' and 'Completed' order statuses under Advanced Search criteria (search order statuses must be done separately). Note: Only Processed and Completed order totals count towards Premium Membership Status.

Q: Why was my membership downgraded to Normal?
A: Horror Mall has the rights to revert any membership back to Pre-pay status for the following reasons:

1) A order marked as Failure. This means that a customer chose Bill Me and failed to pay their bill within 10 days.

2) Three cancellations within a period of 365 days. There are several forms of cancellation that do not adversely effect a customers account and those include publisher cancellations and orders canceled due to an upgrade (as in subscriptions or editions).

Q: If my membership was downgraded, what will happen to my account?
A: Your downgrade will last a minimum of 120 days. Your probationary period begins with the date of your last failed order. Before you upgrade again, you will need to place at least 3 paid orders in that time frame for a grand total of $100 or more. If your account is downgraded, ALL of your current queued (unpaid) orders will become due immediately on downgrade! During your downgrade, you will no longer have the bill me option or earn points for any purchases. If a customer's account is downgraded on two different occasions, the downgrade will become permanent and the customer will never be able to upgrade to a member status again.
