10/3/09. Nice collection from our own Patrick Kill centered on my personal favorite subject: sex. While the majority of stories are somewhat tongue in cheek, Late Night On Maudlin Street could have been included in one of the Hot Blood anthologies. It was much more serious than the others and, I think, the most engrossing. The other standouts are Apartment 6A and Everyone’s Out To Get You, Mother Rucker. I think the end of Apartment 6A probably grossed me out the most of any of the tales in...

Author: Jason Perlman This is a book that will drag one through hell and back both physically and mentally. McBean takes the story of a mother's revenge and literally makes us feel everything she will go through in order to try to find her inner peace. Much of what happens is a gradual slope into oblivion that the reader does not even realize until the last page has turned and the story is able to play out and time to reflect is taken. A great addition to the Thunderstorm library, and even with the $75 price tag is a nice presentation and read.
If budgeting is in the mix, then maybe pass on this, but if the decision is more is the book worth the price of admission, then $75 is worth it to visit the personal hell of this mother because when we turn the last page, we get to come back to earth and realize it was all just fiction. But the lessons learned and scares, thrills and shivers will stick around for quite some time.
