11/22/09. I just finished reading Shackled today. It's my 3rd book of Garton's and I have to say he doesn't pull punches with this novel. The characters are fleshed out very well and the writer accomplishes a pathos with those characters that leaves you with a feeling that you don't want the book to end. His research of child psychology is evident in the methods used by the captors in this story. Highly recommended.
Remember the old peanut butter cup candy commercial that said "two great tastes that go great together"? Well as much as I hate recalling those old commercials, I can't think of a better analogy to compare the merger of these two small press giants into the entity known as the Horror Mall. I imagine by now that the bandwagon is mighty full from all the lifelong members this combination has brought about. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us...

Ray Garton is the author of over fifty books including popular 1980s horror novel Live Girls and its sequel Night Life as well as the 2006 Leisure paperback The Loveliest Dead. He has also penned several short stories and novellas. In 2006, Ray received the World Horror Convention Grand Master Award at the World Horror Convention in San Francisco.
He currently resides in California with his wife Dawn.
