Benjamin's Parasite by Jeff Strand is a decent read, but humor in horror, for me, is not a good mix. I loved his novel, Pressure, a fantastic serious read! But Benjamin's Parasite is not bad, there's a lot of humor, and a lot of people love that type of horror. To me, though, he tries a lot to emulate Joe Lansdale with his Hap and Leonard series, but comes up a bit short. Benjamin's Parasite is a decent effort from Mr. Strand, but unlike Lansdale, he goes a bit over-the-top with his humor...
I've been collecting for many years now and I think I have discovered something new, different and wonderful in the Horror-Mall. I am probably not the easiest customer in the world but both Shane and Larry have always bent over backwards to accomidate my sometimes overwhelming small press addiction. I was even more prompted to write this after I was able to use my reward points to defray the cost of my order... man, I thought this system would not be for me but its beginning to really prove me wrong. There is definitely an upside to this technology. I think Horror-Mall will be around for quite awhile with the amazing attention to detail and discipline these guys have underpinning Horror-Mall's buisiness mode. THANX Shane and Larry - you've made another "Horror-Mall Loyalist" out of me!!!
