While I think that this is a good Koontz thriller, the thing that brings it down is his constant thematic writing. As I read more of him, day by day, the thing that seems to ruin his work is the way he writes. One difference in this story, though, is the twist villain. It's not the obvious choice, like in many of his others. This time, it's personal.
