High adventure in the world of Lovecraft. Brian Lumley gives us another great adventure set in the primal lands of Lovecraft as the hero, a Conan type names Hrossak, must battle the legions of the old ones, the dark gods of Lovecraft's mythos. This book is Lumley at his best and is highly recommended for any horror or fantasy fan.
Remember the old peanut butter cup candy commercial that said "two great tastes that go great together"? Well as much as I hate recalling those old commercials, I can't think of a better analogy to compare the merger of these two small press giants into the entity known as the Horror Mall. I imagine by now that the bandwagon is mighty full from all the lifelong members this combination has brought about. Can't wait to see what they have in store for us...

Author: William C. Rasmussen A slim, well-produced chapbook from Bloodletting Press that details and provides insight into the workings of a writer's mind, this writer in particular being Jack Ketchum. Anyone familiar with Ketchum's writing already understands the depth and intensity of emotional involvement that he conveys throughout his tales. This lean work merely provides glimpses of the experiences from which he is able to glean heartfelt passages, weaving the feelings from these isolated occurences into his short stories and appropriate sections of his novels. A quite interesting collection of essays and autobiographical situations from an extremely talented and deep author. Highly recommended!
Author: geoff guthrie This is a very heartfelt collection of essays by Ketchum. These have been released before but are wonderfully collected together in one book, which is basically a portrait of Jack’s life. The first story is about the author who influenced Jack the most as a young adult, in the telling we also understand what Jack was doing as employment in his early years. Another is about his best friend who gradually grew insane as an adult, this again tells a lot of history of Jack and when he was first at being published. Also there is an essay about an old girlfriend that Jack wrote the book “Hide and Seek” about. This woman was a speed freak who injected the drug, along with many other hard drugs, but Jack still loved her. Lastly we get a short essay of 9/11, where he was in Greece when it happened and his wife worked in one of the towers (and survived).
This is Jack ripping his heart out of his chest and laying it on the table for us all to see. It is incredibly intimate, and also shocking. Jack has lived a very rough life, and within these pages one can read all about it. This is a real strong piece of writing and I recommend to anyone who likes Ketchum.
Author: Geoff Brown Exquisitely bound chapbook collecting 4 essays Dallas wrote about the influences and life experience that contributes to his unique style of writing. Truly seeming to be written from the heart, these essays are beautifully written, and gives the reader a rare glimpse inside the mind of the man responsible for some of the most confronting tales I have ever read. A beautifully perfect bound pb, this one is a pleasure to read. After some VERY high praise from Brian Cartwright, I shelled out for this chapbook, and was so impressed I then went on to order the lettered HC from BLP. This one is destined to become a modern classic, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in what goes on inside a great writers mind. Three thumbs up!!!
