I read this little chapbook in just one sitting and it just had me smiling all the way through. The Severed Nose is as short as it is strange, and entertaining as hell too. You can't help but to just keep reading, wondering what outrageous thing will happen next. Oh and the illustrations were cool too. All in all this is top notch strange storytelling at its best. I think I'd follow whatever adventure Jeff Strand has in his warped wacky mind.

Author: adam hartley When I first heard of this novel coming out I'll admit I did not know what to expect. This being my first Jeff Strand book, I had to base my decision solely on how much others enjoyed it.
Benjamin is your everyday run of the mill high school English teacher. He spends his days teaching and his nights grading papers. He has a lovely wife, who he still desires after all these years, and a typical teenage daughter. Yes Benjamin has a pretty normal life and enjoys the small luxuries when he can. That is until the day of his meat cleaver swinging student's (Brian) funeral. When Benjamin heard about Brian's death, he just could not believe his ears. The poor boy went insane for sure.. Little did Benjamin know, he'd be next to lose his mind and more.
Something isn't right inside of Benjamin. He's feeling some changes that he cannot explain. His desires such as gambling, eating sweets, and making love to his wife, have increased a hundred fold. He can feel himself becoming slightly different and is hit by the most excruciating pain he's ever felt in his life. Benjamin is rushed to the hospital and kidnapped by a woman named Julie he's never met before and will probably wish he never had.
What follows is a sometimes zany, sometimes serious, but often times hilarious tale of two people on the run to remove Benjamin's parasite. The clock is against him now, will he make it in time?
If you read any book this year, it should be this one.
